Organizing Your Course Homepage
Using Labels to Organize Your Course Outline
Your course homepage is the launch page where students will get course content and participate in your courses online activities. Also, the course homepage is where you will do a majority of your work in LATTE.
You can alter the course homepage through the "Other course settings" in the LATTE Course Tools block and by using the "Turn editing on" button on the upper right-hand part of the course homepage.
About the Course Outline
Your course outline is the central location for organizing your course. The course outline can be formatted in several ways to serve your instructional needs. We recommend that Brandeis University instructors choose either a weekly format or a topic format. The format for the course outline is selected in the course Settings page. Learn more about choosing your course settings...
Weekly format - This format organizes your LATTE course by weeks. The weekly format's default is set to the first day of semester start for Brandeis University and includes 15 weeks. By changing your course Settings, you can change the weeks displayed to start on the first day of your course and the number of weeks the course runs.
Topic format - This format organizes your course by topics. The topic format's default is set to 15 topics. By changing your course Settings, you can change number of topics displayed. A topic format resembles the organizational structure used within WebCT.

Other formats - The course Settings page has alternative formats: LAMS course format, SCORM format, social format, and weekly format - CSS/No tables. Unless you understand what an alternative format is designed to do, we recommend you choose only the weekly or topic formats.

Meaning of Text Colors
Much of the text in LATTE is actually hyperlinks to another part of your LATTE course, hyperlinks to reading materials, or hyperlinks to websites outside of LATTE. These hyperlinks are colored differently to help the user.
Grey text: The course, webpage, file, or activity is hidden from students, and they cannot see it or access it. In order for students to acess what is in grey text, you need to change the settings to "Show" it to them.
Blue text: The course, webpage, file, or activity is visible and accessible to instructors and students.
Brown text: You have accessed or visited the course, webpage, file, or activity before from the computer and browser you are using. Useful for knowing what readings or forum posts you have yet to access. The text will not turn brown if the website or file opens in a new window outside of LATTE.
Brown text with underline: When you roll the mouse over the text, it is indicating that you can visit the course, webpage, file, or activity should you click on it.
