Adding an Assistant, Guest Instructor or Guest Participant to LATTE Courses

Instructors must manually add these users to their LATTE courses:

  • Teaching or graduate assistants
  • Guest instructors / lecturers
  • Guest students (not enrolled with the Registrar for credit)
  • Guest participants (other guests who can observe but cannot interact in LATTE)
Guest users in LATTE must have a UNet ID to log in. Refer to these instructions for guest users to get a UNet ID.

Academic administrators must contact LATTE Help to be given access to LATTE courses.

Assistant Roles within LATTE Courses

LATTE has pre-defined roles for assistants or guest instructors/lecturers; each role has unique priviledges to access and assign grades and edit course material:

Grading TA - Grading TA's have the most priviledges within LATTE. Like an instructor, Grading TAs can create and modify the resources, activites, and files within a course. Grading TA's can grade student assignments and view the gradebook. A Grading TA can see all students' grades within the course.

Librarian or Course Assistant - Course Assistants are able to create and modify the resources, activities, and files within a course, but they do not have access to the gradebook. Use this setting if you want this person to contribute content, but not to have control or access to student grades. You can assign guest instructors or lecturers as "Course Assistants" to help you teach within your LATTE course (such as posting to forums, adding readings and assignments), but allow you to maintain the control and privacy of your gradebook.

Decide which role you want your assistant or guest instructor to play in your LATTE course.

Guest Participant Roles within LATTE Courses

Guest Student - Guest students are able to participate in LATTE courses just as regularly enrolled students, and can submit assignments, post to forums, and be graded.

Guest Participant - Guest participants have "view only" priviledges within the LATTE course. They may access readings and materials, but cannot submit assignments, post to forums, or be an active participant in the course.  Also, the instructor must change the course settings to "Allow guest participants" in order for the guest participant to enter the LATTE course.
