Manually mark forums as read or unread

Description: Give users the ability to manually mark individual posts as read/unread. As of the release of this feature, browsers will no longer automatically keep track of posts read.

Status: Implemented with the release of LATTE 1.6.

Upload Excel / CSV files into gradebook

Description: Users can download LATTE gradebook data into Excel, but they cannot upload Excel spreadsheets into the gradebook.

Status: With the release of LATTE 1.6, instructors may upload CSV files to enter data into the gradebook. This is an advanced feature; instructors who are interested in using this feature should contact LATTE Help for assistance.

Graded comments reset by file upload

Description: In the advanced uploading of files assignment type, when an instructor is processing the grading of submitted files, s/he can lose her/his grades and comments anytime s/he forgets to save her/his changes before uploading a response file.

Status: LTS is investigating solutions
(Last updated on 10/29/09)

Workaround: In order to assure that comments and grades are not lost when grading advanced uploading of files assignments, instructors should upload the response file first and then add grade and comments.

Making links to database articles in LATTE

Description: Faculty experience difficulty making links to database articles in their LATTE courses from off-campus.

Status: There is not one standard solution to connect to the 200+ LTS databases
(Last updated on 10/29/09) Please contact LATTE help for assistance.

Workaround: Making links to articles within databases while on campus reduces the likelihood of broken links.

Moving blocks causes them to disappear

Description: Some custom blocks may disappear. When a course creator moves a block up or down using the arrows or moves the blocks left to right, the block may vanish.

Status: LTS is investigating a solution
(Last updated on 10/29/09)

Workaround: Some blocks may reappear after moving another block. For some HTML blocks, it might be necessary to recreate the same block multiple times.

Blogs on course-level only; blog tab in course shows blog entries by non-participants

Description: Instructors would like to have blogs only for course participants; the blog block within LATTE courses does not filter by course participants only.

Status:  Fixed as of the release of LATTE 1.6. Please note that blogs are linked to participants rather than courses so any blog post a course participant writes, even if not related to the course, will be displayed.
(Last updated on 10/29/09)

Workaround: Ask participants to use a unique tag when writing a blog post related to your course.

Intermittent PDF access issues

Description: Users with Firefox on their Windows and Macintosh systems have reported varied, intermittent issues that affect access to PDF files.

Status:  LTS  monitoring Firefox development - may be fixed with future Firefox versions
(Last updated on 10/29/09)

Workaround: Follow the direct link to the article when attempting to access the PDF.

Timed and conditional releases for activities and resources

Description: Instructors have asked for timed and/or conditional releases of activities and resources as was available in the previous course management system, WebCT. This means the instructor would no longer have to manually make an activity or resource available to students by making it visible.

Status: LTS is investigating solutions
(Last updated on 10/29/09)

Workaround: Some activities can be set with open and close dates, which create a window of time during they will be available and active to students, however the activity is still visible to participants regardless of these settings.

Gradebook weight display rounds to a single decimal

Description: In the "Edit categories and items: Full view" section of the Gradebook, when the instructor is using the weighted mean aggregation method, weights only appear with one decimal place. For example, when the instructor enters "0.25" it is displayed as "0.3". However, the entered item weight ("0.25") appears in the item weight on the individual "Edit grade item" page and applies the entered item weights appropriately when calculating the grade.

Status: LTS is investigating solutions
(Last updated on 10/29/09)

Workaround: Instructors can simply enter the appropriate weights and trust that they will be correctly executed, even though they appear rounded on the "Edit categories and items" page. Alternatively, instructors can multiply all weights by 10 (so that "0.25" appears as "2.5") or by 100 (so that "0.25" appears as "25.0"), as long as they do so consistently (that is, all weights must be multiplied by the same factor).

Ability to disable student email across all courses

Description: When a instructor goes into the Participants list for her/his class and selects a student from the list, if s/he clicks on the small envelope icon beside that student’s email address (so that a red “X” appears on the icon and the email is grayed out) this disables all email being sent to that student's email address, not only in the course in question but in all of the courses in which the student is enrolled.

Status: LTS is investigating solutions
(Last updated on 10/29/09)

Workaround: If instructors do not wish for their students to receive messages from their LATTE course, verify that all active forums in that course are set to not force everyone to be subscribed.
